Video: Thinking of Trying The Wild Diet?

Video: Thinking of Trying The Wild Diet? #lowcarb #highfat #hflc #lchf #paleo

My experience with The Wild Diet by Abel James of The Fat-Burning Man Podcast. Who it’s good for, who should look elsewhere and whether it’s a good resource for the ketogenic, high-fat, low-carb community.

There’s a new high-fat book in town and many of you have been asking me to share my thoughts – the premise, who it’s good for, who shouldn’t bother, the recipes, everything.

I was introduced to Abel’s work via Dave Asprey the author of The Bulletproof Diet. Abel has been a guest on Dave’s blog, podcast and YouTube channel over the years and; as a woman who likes to dig her teeth into the hottest information (you thought I was going to say abs, didn’t you), Abel’s new book was on my list of resources to check out.

The Wild Diet: the high-fat principles, book structure, resources, who would benefit and who should look elsewhere.

  1. Hi,
I’m looking into the wild diet and came across your review. I just had a question I saw that Abel had a 30 day program and also a book. Do you have an opinion as to what would be more useful and informative for someone just starting out? Do they contain the same info, recipes?

    Thanks so much

  2. Hi, I have hashsimoto’s. I have a few questions. (1) Since hashimoto’s includes having slow digestion and a slower metabolism, is a ketogenic diet the right diet for someone with hashimoto’s? Question (2) What happens to the metabolism on a low-carb ketogenic diet? Chris Powell of “Choose More to Lose More” teaches that a low-carb diet will slow the metabolism. Does the ketogenic diet slow the metabolism? (3) Does a diet in which a “diet-induced ketosis” is in place, produce long-term harmful results? For example, if someone stops this diet after a year, have we changed our chemistry in a harmful way and now we have to eat this way forever, whether we want to or not? Finally, if you have any suggestions of things that should be tweaked for someone like me to do the diet so that I don’t make my metaboism slower I would appreciate hearing, thanks.

    • Hi, Susie! Awesome questions. Many of which are answered in my program, Fat Fueled. In this program, I include a whole section about supporting your thyroid on keto (including hashimoto’s), and a whole section about how our metabolism works on keto. Your questions would also be great for my live Q&A every Thursday on Periscope. Download the Periscope app and follow me at Healthful Pursuit to be notified when I’m live so you can ask your q’s. Here’s a video that might be helpful for you, too: https://www.healthfulpursuit.com/2015/09/video-eating-low-carb-and-thyroid-imbalances/

  3. I am 68 years old, a female, in fairly good shape. I had high cholesterol when I started this diet. after adopting a lot of the diet, including coconut oil, bacon, and eggs, my Cholesterol became the highest it’s ever been in my entire life. However, I agree with you that there are a lot of really good points in the wild diet book. I learned really a lot. I just need to be really careful with saturated fat and foods with high cholesterol.

    • Thanks so much for sharing! Have you seen my video on eating high fat and cholesterol? You can check it out, here, if you’re interested!

      • Leanne, thanks so much for the link. I went there and read it. using his technique for figuring out if your cholesterol is high, yes I still have some issues. however, after reading the transcript, I think that the problem is that I still just don’t have my eating balanced correctly. that article really helped me a lot.I am still working on improving my diet and I’m using coconut oil, avocado oil, and extra virgin olive oil, and ghee for cooking, but I’m trying to control how much I use. I have to go back for another blood test in early May and hopefully things will be looking up. I really believe that all of you have the right idea and I just need to focus on how to adjust that to make it work for me. thanks so much for replying and for the really helpfup link. you are the BEST!!!!!

  4. I just want to say that I think that you Leanne are the most fantastic person to walk the planet…. You’re the coolest Keto person out there… Had to say it….

  5. Your review was Sooooo-Ohhhhh helpful. I have hundreds of health books, piling up, yet to read, and this one is in the pile. Your review came just in time for me. Now I know that his program seems very similar to The Warrior Diet of which I’m very familiar. So this saves me some time. Now I can go straight to his amazing recipes. It was extremely helpful to learn, from your review, that fasting in the morning is part of this plan. I absolutely agree that fasting for women many times just doesn’t seem to work as well—and I tried that night feasting and found it was just a recipe for disaster for me. Thanks again and again. I love your style. Keep it coming

    • Thank you! So happy that you liked it – sounds like we’re on the same page!

  6. Loved the video – thanks as always for all your awesome videos! Random question…. where are your glasses from? They are SO cute!! haha…. sorry it’s not a food question!

    • Thank you! They’re Coach glasses ;) I got them about 2 years ago
