The effect that a high-fat, low-carb, moderate protein, keto eating style has had on my body in the last 6 months.
6 months ago, I decided to try eating high-fat (low-carb, keto) in an effort to balance my hormones, heal my body AND lose the weight I’d packed on during hormone replacement therapy.
Before I made the switch, my naturopath and I ordered a bunch of blood work. We tested for everything under the sun, and it wasn’t good. My thyroid stimulating hormone was too high, my cholesterol was too low (cholesterol is what hormones are made of), testosterone was low, estrogen was low, sex hormone-binding globulin was high, everything was out of whack hormonally.
In a last-ditch effort, I went high-fat, keto, the only thing I hadn’t tried. I went in for a blood test last month and received the results before Christmas. They’re shocking.
In today’s keto video, I’m comparing the blood test results I received before going high-fat, keto with the results 6 months into living high-fat, keto and what ketosis has done to my health.

Adopting a high-fat, keto eating style has been the scariest thing I’ve ever done with my health. It required me to leap forward with very little footing. But I chose to eat keto because it was the only thing I hadn’t tried because nothing was working and I wasn’t okay with being unbalanced anymore.
