LentilBakewithSugar-freeBBQSauce6-Ingredient homemade sugar-free barbecue sauce that’s just so darn good!

BBQ sauce craze. Happening right now.

My daily eats are filled with it.

Heck, I even dip my sweet potato fries in the stuff (mixed with a little mayo, of course ;)

The thing about BBQ sauce? It’s full of sugar.

Before grabbing a copy of the Seasonal Comfort Food Cookbook, I really didn’t think that barbecue sauce could be made without sugar.

Goodness me, was I wrong.

I changed up the recipe from the cookbook just a touch and am so excited to share it with you.

I hope you lick the spoon and drizzle it on gawrsh darn everything.

6-Ingredient homemade sugar-free barbecue sauce that’s just so darn good!
  • ½ cup sugar-free pasta sauce
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ⅛ – ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • Freshly ground pepper, to taste
  1. Add all ingredients to a your food processor or high-powered blender. Blend until smooth, about 1 minute.
  2. Pour ingredients into a small saucepan. Cover and bring to a light boil over medium-low heat. Boil for 5 minutes.
  3. Allow to cool and store in an air-tight container for up to 2 weeks.
Pasta sauce: sugar-free pasta sauce exists… you just have to read the labels very carefully. It doesn’t have to be the fancy kind either. I was able to find a Superstore brand pasta sauce that was free of gluten and sugar. Woo!

If you were stranded on an island… and you could only bring 1 condiment (that would last forever) with you, what would it be?

My condiment would TOTALLY be BBQ sauce. it’s like you’re reading my mind…..

I would bring hot sauce (like Sriracha). I can eat almost anything with hot sauce.

This looks like a fabulous bbq sauce and your lentil bake looks to die for! I just made lentil sloppy joes tonight and this will be the next on my list !!! :D

Looks delish! But, am I missing something? Is there a recipe for the lentil bake?

Leanne Vogel (Healthful Pursuit)
