GIVEAWAY: Mary’s Gone Crackers, Twigs, and Cookies

By July 14, 2015

Guess what time it is? Tool time! Giveaway time! Gosh, I loved that show. When Stephanie contacted me from Mary’s Gone Crackers and asked me to review some of their newest products, I jumped at the opportunity. Mary’s Gone Crackers were the first tasty gluten-free cracker I found after months of searching for a good cracker when I first went gluten-free. If you don’t know already, healthy, gluten-free crackers are hard to come by. Most are filled with empty calories and ingredients, or are made from corn, dairy, and every other allergen in between. That’s where Mary’s is different. They’re products are jam packed with wholesome, organic, GMO free ingredients, and they taste superb! In the package I received from Mary’s were:
  • Sticks & Twigs: a pretezel like take on their original crackers
  • Cookies

Sticks & Twigs

I’d heard mixed reviews on this product. First bite and I wondered what everyone was going on about, they were delicious! Crunchy, slightly flavored, mmm. Just to make sure I wasn’t being biased, I brought the bags into the office for the girls to try. They all loved them, especially the curry flavor. Kimber even decided to keep one of the bags all to herself. Out of the three flavors; curry, chipotle tomato, and sea salt, I liked sea salt the best. My favorite way to enjoy them? Dipped in hummus or broken up over a salad as croutons. Sea salt sticks & twigs ingredients:Organic Short Grain Brown Rice, Organic Whole Quinoa, Organic Brown Flax Seeds, Organic Brown Sesame Seeds, Organic Whole Amaranth, Organic Whole Millet, Filtered Water, Sea Salt, Organic Chia Seeds, Organic Wheat-Free Tamari (Water, Whole Soybeans, Sea Salt, Organic Alcohol). So clean! One thing I have to mention though, is if you have a delicate digestive system like me, these can be a bit too much for it to handle. Small amounts every couple of days are fine, but because the pretzel sticks are made up primarily of raw, crunchy grains, it can cause some issues if you eat too much at once. I found that packing them for my lunch alongside a couple of carrot sticks in the same container, softened them up to a point that didn’t end up hurting my tummy.

Cookies

I honestly was not expecting that these cookies would be very ‘breathtaking’ in fact, I thought they’d be a bit too granola for my liking. I’ve tried so many different versions of gluten-free cookies, again, packed with sugar, empty ingredients, and allergens but, I was willing to give it a shot. I picked up the Ginger Snaps box and read through the ingredients list, ready for a load of cane sugar, natural flavors, and simple rice flour. What I was met with was quite different. Ginger snaps ingredients:Organic Gluten-Free Flour Blend (Organic Brown Rice Flour, Organic Tapioca Flour, Organic Potato Flour, Organic Potato Starch, Organic Amaranth Flour), Organic Palm Sugar, Organic Palm Fruit Shortening (Palm Oil), Organic Tapioca Syrup, Organic Blackstrap Molasses, Organic Yellow Split Pea Flour, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Ginger Root, Organic Prune Juice Concentrate, Filtered Water, Organic Spices, Baking Soda, Organic Vanilla Extract, Pink Himalayan Salt, Organic Chia Seeds, Organic Rice Bran Extract, Xanthan Gum, Black Pepper. … coconut sugar in a boxed cookie? Hold the phone. No, no, hold my plate while I dip my cookies in some almond milk ;) Each flavor; chocolate chip, double chocolate, ginger snap, and oatmeal raisin, is a bit on the chewy yet crisp side. Out of all the flavors, oatmeal raisin was my least favorite. Ginger snap was my favorite. And double chocolate came in at 3rd place overall. All in all, I’m happy to have been introduced to these new products, and have become more familiar with the Mary’s Gone Crackers brand as a result. They have a fantastic conscious eating approach to their products that I just love. As I’ve said time, and time again, what we eat can significantly affect our mental, emotion, physical, and spiritual well being, and Mary’s really believes in that too!
